WRDA® 30

Concrete Plasticiser

Product Description

WRDA® 30 is a high efficiency plasticiser which substantially improves early and ultimate strengths of concrete by effective water reductions. WRDA® 30 is ideal for use in the design of high performance concretes for ready mixed concrete operations. It can also be used to impart high workability to concrete mixtures and to extend transit and placement times.

WRDA® 30 is formulated from specially selected polymer systems which have been carefully matched to optimise the synergy between dispersing properties and improvement of cement hydration. WRDA® 30 conforms to EN934-2, Type A and Type D of ASTM C 494 and with BS 5075: Part 1.

Addition Rates

Range: 200 ml - 500 ml per 100 kg cement (0.2% - 0.5%) volume by weight cement.

WRDA® 30 is a versatile, high performance product that can benefit a wide variety of applications. As with most products of this type, the level of effect of WRDA® 30 is governed, within limits, by the quantity of products used and the specific nature of the concrete mixture.

The performance of WRDA® 30 is best assessed after preliminary tests using the actual concrete materials to determine the optimum dosage and effect on both plastic and hardened concrete properties. As a guide to these trials, we recommend an addition rate of 300ml per 100kg cement as a starting point.

WRDA® 30 is supplied ready for use. It should be added to the concrete mix during the mixing cycle with the water, after the addition of the cementitious component. It should not be added directly to the cement. Overdosing of WRDA® 30 will generally increase set retardation which if governed by the level of addition. Retardation will be exaggerated in low temperatures and when Sulphate Resisting Cement or cement replacements are used. Large overdoses will lead to considerable increases in workability. In cases of overdosing, care must be taken to ensure that the concrete is properly cured while in its plastic state.

Compatibility

With cements:

WRDA® 30 can be used with all types of Portland Cement. It can also be used in concretes containing replacement materials such as ground granulated blast furnace slag and pulverised fuel ash. For use with other cements we recommend you consult GCP Applied Technologies.

With other admixtures:

WRDA® 30 should not be pre-mixed with other admixtures.

The performance of the material may be affected by the presence of other chemicals. We recommend you consult GCP Applied Technologies in such circumstances.

Dispensing

Liquid admixtures should be introduced into the mixer by means of automatic dispensing equipment. A range of equipment and advice on supply and fitting are available from GCP Applied Technologies on request. WRDA® 30 must not be allowed to come in contact with other admixtures prior to being mixed into the concrete.

Health and Safety

See WRDA® 30 SDS (Safety Data Sheet) or consult GCP Applied Technologies.

Packaging

WRDA® 30 is supplied in 205-litre, non-returnable containers. Alternatively, bulk deliveries can be arranged.

Storage

WRDA® 30 should be stored above 0°C and protected from frost. If the product does freeze, it should be carefully thawed before mixing.
